Why does an interior system work when the water is outside?
The physics answer is that basements do not leak through the middle of a wall, they leak where pressure concentrates, and pressure concentrates at the bottom. The Chicago region sits on glacial clay that drains slowly and swells as it saturates. After a stalled storm over Cook or Will County, that clay holds water against your foundation like a clamped sponge, and hydrostatic pressure builds highest right at the footing. When do you not need a system at all?
Some wet basements need neither an inside fix nor an outside one, and we would rather tell you now than at your kitchen table.
Water arriving through the floor drain during heavy storms is a sewer capacity problem, common in older suburbs where storm and sanitary lines share a pipe.
