What a proper injection includes
The material matters less than the method. A crack injected halfway is a crack that leaks again next spring, from a slightly different spot.

Why do poured concrete walls crack and leak?
Poured concrete cracks because it shrinks as it cures and because Chicago clay never stops adjusting underneath it. Most vertical cracks appear within the first years of a wall's life at predictable places: window corners, beam pockets, tie-rod lines and the middle of long runs. They start dry, and then a wet spring finds them.
The leak works by pressure. Saturated clay pushes water into the crack's outside face, and the crack becomes a slow pipe through eight or ten inches of wall. Surface patches fail because they cap the inside end of that pipe while the water keeps arriving behind them; urethane works because it fills the pipe itself, expanding until the crack has no interior left to carry water through.
